Biography

Massimo Scaglioni is a full professor in Media History at the Catholic University of Milan, where he is also associated with the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Department of Communication and Performing Arts. In addition, he teaches Transmedia Narratives at the Università della Svizzera italiana. His extensive research covers the institutional, economic, cultural, and social history of media, focusing particularly on radio and television in both Italy and the international context. Scaglioni analyzes television texts, paying special attention to serial forms in American and European contexts, as well as audience measurement, fandom, and emerging viewer engagement practices. He has presented several research findings at national and international conferences. Scaglioni's ongoing research interests include the changing consumption of news in Italy and encapsulating the new dynamics of media engagement in contemporary society. He has been recognized for his contributions to media studies and actively participates in editorial boards for various academic journals.
