Dr. Mateja Jamnik

Biography

Mateja Jamnik is a full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge. She specializes in Artificial Intelligence and has contributed significantly to the field through her research on human-like computing, machine learning, and the explainability of AI systems. Jamnik's work involves combining reasoning techniques with machine learning to enhance the interpretability and efficacy of AI applications in personalized medicine and tutoring systems. She is a founding member of the women@CL initiative and has served as a Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence. Her research interests encompass a broad array of topics within artificial intelligence, including automated reasoning, diagrammatic reasoning, knowledge representation, and human-computer interaction. She has actively pursued research projects focusing on explainability methods for deep learning, the integration of symbolic methods with neural machine learning, and the development of adaptable knowledge representations for AI systems.
