Biography

Mathias Ekstedt is a professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, specializing in Industrial Information Control Systems. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1999 and 2004, respectively. His research interests encompass information security and cybersecurity, focusing on software systems architecture and modeling analyses. His work aims to develop formalisms for analyzing security vulnerabilities in system-of-systems architectures using probabilistic attack/defense graphs. He is the co-founder and director of KTH's Master’s program in Cybersecurity and is a member of the Trust Working Group in the Center for Cyber Defense and Information Security (CDIS). He has a significant background in collaborating with the power industry, applying research toward information systems related to physical process monitoring and control, including SCADA and industrial control systems. Mathias is notably involved in several ongoing projects, including acting as Co-Principal Investigator for the ESF project CHAINS and project leader for various initiatives under the Swedish Centre for Smart Grids and Energy Storage. Additionally, he contributes to several EU projects focused on cybersecurity and resilience in power systems.
