Biography

Mathieu (Paul) Weggeman is a Full Professor of Organizational Science and Innovation Management at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His primary expertise lies in the fields of organizational design and innovation management in knowledge-intensive organizations. His research focuses on understanding and explaining innovation processes in technology and cultural organizations, with special attention on leading professionals, strategy formulation, and realizing collective ambitions in teams. His research includes studying team flow, motivational aspects of professionals in knowledge sharing, and the impact of fuzzy front end innovation processes on work aesthetics and professionals’ productivity. He emphasizes the importance of addressing socially relevant questions such as how to make organizations more beautiful. Mathieu obtained his MSc in Industrial Engineering at TU/e and holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Tilburg University. Before joining TU/e, he worked as a management consultant at Philips Research and served on the Executive Committee of Philips Electronics. He has published in various top-tier journals and has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the ten influential Dutch management consultants in 2005. His book "Leading professionals? Don’t! a continental European perspective" won the Management Book of the Year prize in 2008.
