Biography

Matilda Gillis is a Research Fellow and College Lecturer at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, with a focus on Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, and International Law. She teaches various aspects of law and currently investigates the intersection of criminal law and justice with human rights law. Matilda is also the Director of Studies for Part 1A and a Postgraduate Tutor at her college. She serves as the Faculty Access Officer for the term 2023-2025. Matilda holds a BA/LLB (Hons) from the Australian National University and an LLM in International Law from the University of Cambridge, where she received the Henry Arthur Hollond Studentship and the Lionel Murphy Endowment Postgraduate Scholarship. Additionally, she has a PhD from the University of Cambridge, funded by the Peterhouse Graduate Research Studentship. Her previous academic roles include positions at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University College London (UCL), and the Australian National University (ANU). Matilda has also worked as a solicitor for the Australian Government Solicitor in the area of constitutional law and consults ad hoc for international organizations and non-governmental organizations.
