Biography

Mats Bengtsson is a Professor of Signal Processing at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), focusing on statistical signal processing and its applications in antenna array processing, communications, radio resource management, propagation channel modeling, and sensor data analysis. He received a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Linköping University in 1991, and both a Technology Licentiate and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KTH in 1997 and 2000, respectively. He has substantial experience in academia and industry, having worked at Ericsson Telecom AB from 1991 to 1995. Bengtsson has held numerous professional roles, including an appointment as Docent in Signal Processing in 2007. He is actively involved in editorial and organizational capacities within the IEEE community, serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, and has contributed significantly to conferences such as IEEE SPAWC 2015. In recognition of his work, he received the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Column Award in 2019 for his publication on optimal multiuser transmit beamforming. He teaches several courses related to signal processing and network engineering, responsible for examining and guiding students in their academic journeys.
