Biography

Mats Ehinger is an associate professor of hematopathology and a senior lecturer in clinical pathology at Lund University. He is also a senior consultant pathologist and cytopathologist at the Department of Clinical Genetics and Pathology in Region Skåne. His research focuses on translating basic immunologic and molecular research into clinical diagnostic practice, specifically improving the diagnostics of leukemia and lymphoma. Ehinger's work led to the establishment of diagnostic methods that are now routinely used in clinical practice, especially in measuring residual disease in leukemia patients. He aims to simplify and improve lymphoma diagnostics by applying immunologic molecular methods using cytologic material instead of traditional histologic methods. Ehinger has organized many courses in hematopathology and heads a recognized hematopathology laboratory in Lund that serves as a reference center for the southern healthcare region of Sweden.
