Biography

Mats Olvmo is an associate professor in the Department of Physical Geography at the University of Gothenburg. He completed his bachelor degree in physical geography in 1983 and earned his PhD in the same field in 1989, with his thesis focusing on glacial fluvial canyons in Sweden. His research interests are primarily in geomorphology, exploring landform development over geological time. His work has significantly contributed to understanding the relationship between bedrock structure and landform development, particularly in southern Sweden. Throughout his academic career, Olvmo has taught various aspects of physical geography and earth science, particularly geomorphology, to undergraduate students, often incorporating field studies and excursions into his teaching. In recent years, he has expanded his research interests to include the effects of climate change on permafrost landforms in northernmost Sweden, collaborating with colleagues from the Department of Geosciences. Olvmo has presented his research at various conferences and continues to contribute to the academic community through publications and collaborative projects.
