Dr. Matt Conway

Biography

Matt Conway is a Lecturer at the University of Southern California's School of Architecture, specializing in Computational Design. With a strong background in architecture and technology, he has experience in various AEC software, technologies, and programming languages. Conway's professional focus lies in parametric design, geometric approaches, and interactive immersive technologies. He co-founded HomeMakeLabs, a studio for video games, interactive installations, and visualization. He earned his Master of Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and has worked with prominent firms such as DLR Group, Gehry Technologies, MAD, Behnisch Architekten, and NBBJ. In his teaching role, he offers seminars on Coding, Computational Design, and Geometry, where he explores programming literacy and contemporary digital methods in architectural design. His research emphasizes the integration of digital operational strategies within design methods, particularly using Rhinoceros 3D for three-dimensional digital modeling and architectural representation. Conway is dedicated to cultivating students' abilities to navigate digital design processes effectively, empowering them to communicate spatial ideas with clarity.
