Matt Jarvis is a professor of Astrophysics at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on black holes, galaxy formation, and cosmology. He completed his undergraduate studies in Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 1997, and later pursued a DPhil in Astrophysics at Oxford. Following his doctorate, he held postdoctoral positions in Leiden and Oxford. In 2007, he joined the University of Hertfordshire as a lecturer and returned to Oxford in 2012 as an Associate Professor. He has been involved with the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project and has held a visiting professorship at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa since 2010. Matt has also engaged in initiatives promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the field of Physics at the University, and in 2020, he became the Associate Head of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS).
