Dr. Matt Nassar

Biography

Matt Nassar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and completed his Doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. Nassar has also undergone post-doctoral training at both the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University prior to joining the faculty. His research primarily aims to understand how the brain flexibly processes information to achieve complex adaptive behaviors. Nassar's work explores the cognitive systems involved in everyday decision-making, emphasizing the role of learning mechanisms that guide behavior, memory systems that recall past experiences, and perceptual systems that evaluate sensory information. He aims to develop insights into the computational principles that govern these interconnected systems, which collectively impact decision-making in complex environments.
