Associate Professor Payne is a highly experienced perinatal molecular microbiologist, awarded a PhD from the University of Queensland in 2007. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the Australian Society for Microbiology since 2015. Currently, he serves as Principal Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, leading the Clinical Perinatal Research Laboratories within the Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
