Matt Tegtmeyer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University. His research focuses on stem cell biology and human genetics, aiming to draw links between cell biology and quantitative translational genomics. He develops and implements novel experimental paradigms at the population level to enable large-scale human phenomics. His laboratory emphasizes four main themes: expanding the integration of cellular and genomic tools to guide the design of functional validations for quantitative genetic studies across various organisms; leveraging human model systems for drug discovery with a focus on understanding genetic influences on treatment response; developing novel computational and statistical approaches for the integration of multi-modal and multi-omic data; and applying gene-editing technologies to investigate disease-associated genetic variations. Matt obtained his Ph.D. in Neurogenetics from King's College London in 2023, in partnership with the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute.
