Biography

Matteo Cargnello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, where he has been a faculty member since January 2015. He received his Ph.D. in Nanotechnology in 2012 from the University of Trieste, Italy, under the supervision of Professor Paolo Fornasiero. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Chemistry Department at the University of Pennsylvania with Professor Christopher B. Murray. Cargnello's research focuses on addressing energy and environmental challenges, specifically in the areas of carbon dioxide capture and conversion, emission control of methane and hydrocarbon emissions, sustainable chemical practices, and hydrogen production through electro- and photocatalysis. He has earned several prestigious awards, including the Sloan Research Fellowship and the Early Career Award from the ACS Catalysis Division. Cargnello is a Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy and has also received recognition such as the Silas Palmer Faculty Scholar Award.
