Dr. Matthäus Tekathen

Biography

Matthäus Tekathen is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Accountancy at Concordia University. His research primarily focuses on the interplay between risk management and management accounting control practices. He teaches courses related to managerial accounting and enterprise risk management within both MBA and undergraduate programs. Matthäus joined Concordia University in 2014 after completing his doctorate at EBS Business School in Germany, specializing in enterprise risk management. He holds both BSc and MSc degrees in Management with concentrations in accounting and management accounting control. His research is recognized and funded by various organizations including the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture. A prominent figure in academic circles, Matthäus has published articles in numerous respected journals such as the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal and the European Accounting Review. Additionally, he has actively presented his research at various international conferences, covering significant topics in management accounting. Over the years, Matthäus has also co-authored an accounting textbook for non-financial managers and developed a course on strategic managerial accounting control, receiving the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching for his exceptional contributions to education.
