Dr. Matthew Austin

Biography

Matthew Austin, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine specializing in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Yale School of Medicine. He focuses on melanoma, a type of skin cancer, and genitourinary cancers affecting the urinary system and male reproductive organs. Dr. Austin obtained his medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine, University at Buffalo in 2014. Following that, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Brown University, where he served as Chief Resident. He furthered his specialized training with a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Yale Cancer Center. Dr. Austin has actively collaborated on significant research projects, including studies utilizing large-scale autoantibody assays to profile the humoral response to immunotherapy, along with RNA sequencing and mutational analyses of tumors in relation to checkpoint inhibitor-induced diabetes. His research interests primarily lie in Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors. Additionally, Dr. Austin is dedicated to delivering patient care at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers located in Westerly and Waterford.
