Dr. Matthew Bartos

Biography

Matthew Bartos joined the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin as an assistant professor in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering group in January 2021. Bartos's research focuses on building a new generation of smart stormwater systems that utilize real-time sensing and control to deliver improved performance and mitigate water hazards. His work includes advancements in real-time sensing control of civil infrastructure, wireless sensor networks, and digital twin models for water infrastructure, as well as coupled infrastructure systems modeling and smart urban water systems. He also addresses real-time flood monitoring and stormwater control through algorithms for data assimilation and event detection.
