Dr. Matthew Bizzarro

Biography

Matthew Bizzarro, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics specializing in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital and previously held the title of Medical Director of the Yale NICU Network. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of issues related to premature birth, congenital anomalies, and respiratory failure. Bizzarro's research focuses on neonatal infectious diseases, specifically hospital-acquired infections within the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). He has been actively involved in various organizations aimed at improving infection prevention practices in ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and NICU populations. Matthew completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Dartmouth College, earned his MD from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, and completed his Pediatric Residency at New York University and a Neonatology Fellowship at Yale University. He is an active member of multiple professional organizations and has received several honors for his contributions to pediatric care and infectious disease management.
