Biography

Dr. Matthew Blunt completed his PhD in immunology and pharmacology at the University of Bath, funded by BBSRC and Novartis. His postdoctoral research focused on novel treatment strategies for hematological malignancies at the CRUK Centre Southampton, where he studied natural killer (NK) cell activation and cancer under Professor Salim Khakoo. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as Science Advances, Blood, and Leukemia, and he has received numerous awards for his research, including the Catovsky Prize from the UK CLL Forum and the John Marsden Prize from the University of Southampton. In 2019, he established his laboratory with a Postdoctoral Career Track Award from the University of Southampton and received a John Goldman Fellowship from Leukaemia UK. In 2023, he was selected as an 'Emerging Leader' in leukemia by the journal Nature. Dr. Blunt leads a team investigating NK cell activation in cancer, collaborating with both academic and industry partners to develop innovative immune cell therapies.
