Dr. Matthew Elkin

Biography

Matthew R. Elkin is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he specializes in law within the International Transactions Clinic. With a law degree from the University of Michigan and an LLM in taxation from New York University, Elkin has carved out a niche in corporate tax matters, particularly those affecting tax-exempt organizations. His expertise encompasses transactional issues related to charitable investment funds, social enterprises, and impact investing, as well as governance for various organizations. He regularly provides legal counsel to private foundations, trade associations, colleges, universities, health care organizations, and international development entities, focusing on complex transactions, board governance, fiduciary duties, and compliance.
