Dr. Matthew Endres

Biography

Matthew Endres is a teaching professor at the Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin, specializing in jazz studies and drum set. He also serves as the percussion coordinator for the UW Marching Band. Endres holds a Bachelor of Music degree in drum set from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, a Master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of Illinois, and a Doctorate in jazz studies and ethnomusicology from the University of Illinois. He has performed extensively as both a bandleader and sideman in national and international venues. Endres is a member of the award-winning group Old Style Sextet, which placed in the renowned Cotai Jazz Blues Competition in Macau, China, in 2014. He has records including collaborations on various albums such as 'It’s Time' with the Adrian Barnett Septet, Old Style Sextet's self-titled album, and 'Bird Strings: Lost Arrangements' with the Clark Gibson Studio Orchestra. Endres has worked with many talented musicians, including Grammy award-winning artists across the jazz spectrum and holds an endorsement with Bopworks Drumsticks based in Austin, Texas.
