Biography

Dr. Ettleson’s research interests include epidemiology, health services research, diagnosis, and treatment of thyroid disease. His research aims to evaluate and improve the quality of care delivered to patients with hypothyroidism, investigating patterns of hypothyroidism treatment, medical decision-making, and clinical outcomes. The ultimate goal of his research program is to optimize hypothyroidism treatment, improving patient experiences and reducing adverse outcomes. He is currently developing novel approaches to measure and improve the quality of levothyroxine treatment for hypothyroidism, a project funded by a career development grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Dr. Ettleson sees patients with general endocrinology conditions at the DCAM endocrinology clinic, with a focus on thyroid diseases, type 2 diabetes, and male hypogonadism.
