Biography

Matthew P. Harrington holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from McGill University and a Doctor of Juridical Science Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a professor of law at Université de Montréal, where he teaches courses on U.S. constitutional law and property trust law. As the president of the Faculty’s common law program committee, he is deeply involved in the academic community. Professor Harrington has published extensively on the history of the U.S. Supreme Court and the economic origins of law. His research interests include the legal history of English and American law, as well as constitutional law in both jurisdictions, focusing on the North American common law system. He is currently leading multiple research projects, including initiatives funded by various Canadian research councils, aimed at improving legal systems and education in Canada.
