Biography

Matthew O. Jackson is the William D. Eberle Professor of Economics at Stanford University and an external faculty member at the Santa Fe Institute. He is a recurring visitor at Monash University, Northwestern University, and Caltech. Jackson received his BA from Princeton University in 1984 and his PhD from Stanford in 1988. His research interests encompass game theory, microeconomic theory, and the study of social economic networks, with numerous publications including influential works such as 'The Human Network' and 'Social Economic Networks'. In addition to his publication record, Jackson teaches an online course on networks and co-teaches game theory. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of both the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Econometric Society. He has served on the editorial boards of major journals including Econometrica and PNAS, and has held leadership positions within the Game Theory Society.
