Biography

Matthew obtained his BA in Mathematics from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge in 2012, and graduated with an MMath in Part III in 2013. He completed his PhD in Mathematics at the London School of Economics under supervision of Professor Jozef Skokan and Professor Julia Boettcher. Following his PhD, Matthew took a postdoctoral position at the University of Oxford, where he spent two years enhancing his research profile. In 2020, he joined the University of Birmingham as a Lecturer in Probability and in August 2022, he was awarded a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. January 2023 marked his transition to King's College London as a Reader in Probability within the Department of Mathematics. His research interests span various fields, including discrete probability, probabilistic/extremal combinatorics, statistical physics, algorithms, and random matrix theory.
