Biography

Matthew Krause has an extensive academic background in Kinesiology, holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s from the University of Western Ontario and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from McMaster University. His research focuses on skeletal muscle physiology, specifically the regeneration processes following injury and the role of extracellular factors such as hormones in tissue repair. Krause completed a postdoctoral fellowship at SickKids Research Institute, enhancing his expertise in developmental stem cell biology. He joined the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor in 2015. His teaching interests include exercise physiology and disease pathophysiology, while his research aims to uncover mechanisms that underlie impaired tissue regeneration in various disease states, including diabetes, aging, and cancer.
