Matthew Krause obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario before moving to McMaster University for his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences, focusing on Skeletal Muscle Physiology. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the SickKids Research Institute in the Developmental Stem Cell Biology program. Since joining the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor in 2015, his teaching interests include exercise physiology, skeletal muscle physiology, nutrition, metabolism, and disease pathophysiology. His research aims to understand the mechanisms of tissue regeneration in response to injury, particularly how extracellular factors like hormones regulate these processes, especially in conditions such as diabetes, aging, and cancer. He investigates the effects of acute and chronic exercise on the regenerative capacity of tissues, contributing to the understanding of impaired tissue regeneration in various disease states.
