Biography

Matthew Krissel is an Adjunct Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, within the School of Architecture. He is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and has extensive experience leading transformative architectural projects across North America and internationally for decades. He is a principal at Perkins&Will, a global interdisciplinary architecture design firm. In 2023, Matthew co-founded the Built Environment Futures Council (BEFC), which comprises a diverse, multidisciplinary group advancing design, technology, and artificial intelligence in architecture and construction. Matthew founded and directs Creative Lab 3, an innovative research and design platform that focuses on architecture, writing, and photography to inspire change and transform ideas. His projects have received numerous awards, including recognition at the World Architecture Festival and the AIA, among others. He has contributed to various design juries and has given talks at prestigious institutions, including Harvard University and the University of Toronto. His design work spans over 20 years and includes notable projects such as the award-winning Paulson Center at New York University and the Embassy of the United States in London.
