Matthew Kyan received his B.Sc. in Computer Science, B.Eng, and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia. His research focuses on addressing the efficient organization and management of analysis in media-rich datasets, as well as developing natural intuitive modes associated with human-computer and computer-mediated interaction. He won the Siemens National Prize for Innovation in Australia in 1999 for his work on 3D confocal image analysis. Kyan is a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the Computational Intelligence Society, and the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and currently serves as the Treasurer of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, Toronto Chapter. Before joining Lassonde, he worked at Ryerson University, where he played a crucial role in establishing the Centre for Interactive Multimedia Information Mining in 2008.
