Biography

Matthew Jason Levy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he has been a faculty member since 2009. He also serves as the Deputy Director of Operational Medicine and Senior Medical Officer at the Johns Hopkins Center for Law Enforcement Medicine, as well as the Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medical Services Fellowship. Levy completed his training in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, graduating in 2009 after serving as chief resident from 2008 to 2009. His research primarily focuses on pre-hospital and operational disaster medicine, disaster medicine education, and system innovations in emergency medical services. In addition to his academic roles, he acts as a tactical physician for the Maryland State Police and Howard County Police, and serves as the medical director for the Howard County Fire Rescue and the Regional Medical Director for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems. He has been involved with the Maryland-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team and the paramedic program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Levy is recognized as a Fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Academy of Emergency Medical Services, and holds certifications from the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
