Biography

Matt Maciejewski, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences and a Senior Research Career Scientist at the Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation at the Durham VA Medical Center. He holds Adjunct Professor appointments in the Schools of Public Health and Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on the evaluation of long-term clinical economic outcomes associated with surgical and behavioral interventions, particularly in relation to Medicare program and policy changes for patients with obesity and cardiometabolic conditions. He has a keen interest in methods addressing unobserved confounding in observational studies and has evaluated population-based implementations of value-based insurance design. With over 325 publications in peer-reviewed journals such as JAMA and Health Services Research, his areas of expertise encompass Health Services Research, Health Economics, Health Policy, and Multimorbidity management strategies.
