Biography

Matthew McKean is an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of History at Carleton University. He holds a PhD in History from Queen’s University. In addition to his academic role, he serves as the Chief R&D Officer for BHER, where he leads initiatives in work-integrated learning and applied research development. Previously, he was the Director of Education & Skills at the Conference Board of Canada and played a pivotal role in managing the Council of University Executives, a national network of Provosts and Vice-Presidents. Matthew has contributed to the Future Skills Centre, a multi-year initiative backed by the Government of Canada. An advocate for public discourse on education and skills, he has written for several leading publications, including the Globe & Mail and the National Post. Matthew is also active in various advisory committees, including the National Advisory Committee for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Education.
