Matthew K. Meisel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University. He received his Ph.D. in Behavioral Brain Sciences from the University of Georgia in 2015 and completed his postdoctoral training at Brown University in 2017. Dr. Meisel's primary research interests include the application of social network analysis theory, social influence, and social selection in alcohol use, developmental transitions in young adults, and education-based health disparities. He is currently investigating changes in alcohol use as young adults enter the workforce and how characteristics of work environments relate to alcohol use, with the overarching goal of informing treatment development and interventions to address hazardous substance use. Additionally, he is involved in several funded research projects evaluating interventions aimed at reducing hazardous alcohol use through targeted social network strategies. Dr. Meisel is also accepting new graduate students to join his research initiatives.
