Biography

Matthew Pritchard is a geophysicist who measures changes in the shape of the Earth and develops models of the myriad processes that cause these changes, including earthquakes, volcanoes, groundwater dynamics, landslides, and glacier movements. Before arriving at Cornell in 2005, Pritchard served as a Harry Hess Postdoctoral Scholar at Princeton University. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Chicago and later attained a graduate degree from the California Institute of Technology. His research interests lie in Geophysics, glaciology, geodesy, tectonics, and volcanology, with a focus on optical radar satellite remote sensing and subsurface energy systems.
