Biography

Matthew Rothman is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at MIT Sloan School of Management. He leads statistical arbitrage strategies in business at Millennium Management LLC. Matthew has held various positions in academia and industry, including managing director at Goldman Sachs and global head of Quantitative Strategies Solutions in its Securities Division. Additionally, he served as global head of Quantitative Equity Research at Credit Suisse, and director of Global Quantitative Macro research at Acadian Asset Management, which manages $100 billion in assets. His previous experience includes senior research roles at Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Matthew has been a faculty member in the Economics Department at Brown University, and the Finance Department at Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is involved with several philanthropic institutions, serving on the Board of Directors for the Innocence Project for a decade, which aims to exonerate those wrongfully convicted based on DNA evidence. He is also committed to funding photographers who document social conflict and civil unrest both domestically and globally. Matthew earned a BA in Philosophy from Brown University, an MA in Statistics from Columbia University, and a PhD in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
