Dr. Matthew Ryan

Biography

Matthew Ryan teaches courses on Construction Law and Construction Litigation at Texas Law. He is a partner at Allensworth Porter LLP, an Austin-based construction law firm, where he represents participants in the construction industry in dispute resolution, contract review, negotiation, and regulatory matters. His practice particularly focuses on representing design professionals in disciplinary matters before the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners and the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Ryan has delivered multiple papers and speeches at the Construction Law Section annual conference. He was selected as a 'Super Lawyer' in Construction Law by Texas Monthly magazine and served as Chair of the Austin Young Construction Lawyers from 2004 to 2006. An active member of the governing council of the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas from 2007 to 2012, he has also served on the Board of Directors of the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects since 2009, which honored him with an honorary membership in 2012. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Ryan worked in the Russian-language field, focused on a program that helped bring 50,000 refugees from the Soviet Union to the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Vermont and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
