Biography

Matthew Smith, MD, PhD grew up in Milwaukee, WI. He obtained his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering and later earned a PhD in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After completing a post-doctoral research position as a software engineer at a startup company, he pursued his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Smith completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before returning to Wisconsin to join the Abdominal Imaging Intervention Section in 2024. His professional interests include trainee education and the translation of new imaging techniques into clinical practice.
