Biography

Matthew Steele-MacInnis is a geologist whose research focuses on the properties and roles of fluids in Earth's interior, particularly in the formation of economic mineral deposits. He obtained a Bachelor of Science with honors in Earth Sciences from Memorial University in 2008 and completed his PhD in Geosciences at Virginia Tech in 2013. Following his doctoral studies, he held a Marie Curie postdoctoral position at ETH Zurich from 2013 to 2015. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona from 2015 to 2017 before joining the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor in 2017. His research group is involved in the study of Geologic Fluids and Mineral Deposits, and he teaches courses such as EAS 332 - Metamorphic Petrology.
