Matthew Thompson is a prominent figure in the field of Family Medicine, holding a professorship at the University of Washington. With an extensive educational background, he completed his clinical training as a Family Physician in both the USA and the UK, followed by research training at the University of Washington and a doctorate from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on diagnostic testing, digital health, child health, infectious diseases, and the integration of new technologies into healthcare, particularly in primary care settings. He directs the Primary Care Innovation Lab, emphasizing the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance diagnostic processes and improve patient outcomes. Over his career, he has contributed significantly to the academic community with over 230 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 book chapters and reports. Notably, he served as the Vice Chair for Research in his department and holds the prestigious Helen D. Cohen endowed Professorship.
