Biography

Professor Matthias Althoff holds a professorship in Cyber Physical Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research interests focus on the formal methods that ensure the safety and correct operation of model-based design in cyber-physical systems. His work spans areas such as autonomous vehicles, smart grids, intelligent production systems, and medical robotics. Althoff studied mechatronics and information technology at TUM, where he received his PhD with distinction (summa cum laude) in 2010. Following his PhD, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University in the USA from 2010 to 2012. He then led a research group on automation systems at Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany and served as an assistant professor before becoming a full professor at TUM in 2013.
