Dr. Matthias Kipping

Biography

Matthias Kipping is a Professor of Strategic Management at the Schulich School of Business, York University, and holds the Richard E. Waugh Chair in Business History. Since joining Schulich in 2006, he has also been an Associate Dean and has held visiting professor positions in various countries including France, Italy, Japan, and Germany. Kipping's research primarily focuses on the evolution of management consulting and its impact on industries and society. He has published numerous articles and book chapters and has been involved in significant collaborative research projects. His current work examines the rise of outsourcing consulting in India and the dynamics of industries over time and across geographies. Kipping's contributions have garnered attention in the field, leading to awards and funding from prestigious organizations, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He has also contributed to workshops and special issues in leading academic journals, highlighting the intersection of historical research methods and management studies.
