Professor Tschöp’s research focuses on dissecting molecular underpinnings of diabetes and obesity to discover new preventive and therapeutic approaches for metabolic syndrome. He completed his undergraduate studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and received his PhD from the same institution. Following that, he held postdoctoral positions at Eli Lilly and the German Institute of Human Nutrition in Potsdam. He notably led a research institute at the University of Cincinnati as a tenured professor of endocrinology and diabetes, holding the Arthur Russell Morgan Endowed Chair in Medicine and serving as the research director of the Metabolism Center of Excellence for Diabetes and Obesity.
