Biography

A/Prof Matthieu Gresil holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from the University of Nantes, France, and completed his PhD in 2009 at Ecole Normale Supérieure, Cachan, collaborating with the French Navy to explore structural health monitoring and electromagnetic shielding functions of composite materials. Following his doctorate, he undertook a four-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of South Carolina focusing on multi-physics finite element modeling and guided wave propagation techniques for structural health monitoring. In 2014, he joined the University of Manchester as a Lecturer before becoming a Senior Lecturer, during which he established a state-of-the-art laboratory facility and secured significant funding. In May 2020, he joined Monash University as an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, where he leads a research group focused on advanced composite materials and oversees research initiatives related to circular materials and sustainability.
