Dr. Matthis Schick

Biography

Matthis Schick is a senior physician in the Department of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine at Zurich University Hospital (USZ). He specializes in psychotraumatology, refugee mental health, and transcultural psychiatry. He completed his doctorate at the University of Zurich in 2000 and has since accumulated extensive clinical experience, including a habilitation in 2018 and various positions such as attending physician and head of the outpatient clinic for torture and war victims. His clinical interests focus on trauma-related disorders and the neurobiological aspects surrounding them. Schick is a member of several professional organizations including the International Federation for Psychotherapy, the Swiss Medical Association, and the Interdisciplinary Network for Psychotraumatology in Switzerland. He has been involved in training and supervising healthcare professionals in the field of psychotraumatology and has contributed to the academic literature in this area. His commitment to improving mental health for refugees and victims of violence remains a driving force in his work.
