Biography

Mattias Kumm is the Inge Rennert Professor of Law at NYU School of Law, where he has been since 2000. His research focuses on comparative constitutional law, European Union law, international law, and legal philosophy. Kumm holds a JSD from Harvard Law School and has a strong educational background in law, political science, and philosophy from universities in Kiel, Germany, and Paris. He also has a part-time joint appointment as a professor of global public law at the WZB Social Science Research Center at Humboldt University, Berlin. Kumm has held visiting appointments at Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, and the European University Institute in Florence, and he lectures at leading universities worldwide. He is the founding editor and editor-in-chief of Global Constitutionalism published by Cambridge University Press and serves on the board of the International Journal of Constitutional Law (I•CON) and as a member of the faculty advisory committee at NYU Law's Institute for International Law and Justice.
