Biography

Mattias Lundberg is a professor in the Department of Musicology at Uppsala University. His research interests include historical composition techniques, liturgical music, medieval music, and progressive rock, with a particular focus on Northern European music history. Lundberg teaches music analysis and music theory, while also supervising Ph.D. students. He has been involved in the production of approximately 400 radio programs broadcast on Swedish Radio P2 and has realized numerous new performances and recordings that reconstruct repertoire previously performed in modernity. Lundberg completed his Ph.D. in Musicology at the University of Liverpool in 2007 and has held various positions, including Associate Professor in 2013 and Professor at Uppsala University in 2015. King's Medal and election to the Swedish Royal Academy of Music. His current and recent research projects involve the analysis, cataloguing, and online publication of liturgical music sources and the cultural reverberations of music within the contexts of the Lutheran State Church.
