Dr. Mattias Rost

Biography

Mattias Rost is an Associate Professor in Interaction Design at the University of Gothenburg and the Head of the Division of CLIC, focusing on Cognitive Science, Learning, Interaction Design, and Communication within the Department of Applied IT. He investigates the relationship between humans and technology, particularly how digital systems, including mobile phones and artificial intelligence, shape attention, creativity, and understanding of the world. His research interests also extend to exploring everyday technology interactions, especially concerning smartphones and the implications of modern AI, particularly large language models, in the context of human-computer collaboration. Mattias has a background in Computer Science and Engineering, having earned his Master’s degree from Chalmers University and a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction from Stockholm University. He has held postdoctoral positions and has worked in industry as a digital strategist, contributing to his comprehensive understanding of technology from both technical and cultural perspectives. His research combines technical knowledge with a human-centered approach, aiming to understand how technology influences thought and creativity.
