Biography

Maura E. Walker is an Assistant Professor at Boston University's College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, Sargent College, where she specializes in Health Sciences. She is a transdisciplinary nutrition scientist with a profound focus on preclinical, clinical, and epidemiological research, investigating the influence of diet on biological systems through various techniques including transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Dr. Walker has held a significant role as a Junior Investigator in the Framingham Heart Study, mainly concentrating on modifiable risk factors related to cardiometabolic diseases such as MASLD, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. She obtained her PhD in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, where she also conducted research at the USDA Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. In addition, she teaches courses related to metabolic regulation and clinical nutrition in the Master of Science in Nutrition degree programs at BU. Her research interests extend to the integration of nutrition and technology through her work in the Quantitative Nutrition Metabolism Lab and the Multi-Omics Lab, co-leading efforts in exploring digital health networks.
