Biography

Maurizio Montone is an Associate Professor of Finance at Utrecht University. His research investigates how investor behavior influences asset prices, employment, and economic growth, focusing on the consequences of sentiment-driven fluctuations in financial markets. He has extended his work to include the environmental performance of climate-related investments, exploring the interaction between behavioral biases and macroeconomic outcomes, as well as the political influences on financial markets. Montone employs a combination of theoretical asset pricing models and large-scale empirical analysis to drive his research. He has collaborated on projects across the EU and the UK and has presented his findings at over 100 research seminars, international events, and top-tier conferences such as those hosted by the American Finance Association and the American Economic Association.
