Biography

Mauro Prevostini received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH - Zurich) with a focus on Biomedical Engineering in 1994. His thesis was on 'On-Line Recognition Masticatory Muscles Activity Long-Time EMG Recorder'. He began his career as a network analyst in the banking domain in 1997 and later led a test integration team at Fantastic Corporation, a startup in the broadband domain, from 1997 to 2001. Since October 2001, he has been working at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) where he managed the creation of the Faculty of Informatics and served as a staff member at the ALaRI institute from 2001 to 2018. From 2004, he held the position of Program Manager at the Faculty of Informatics and was involved as a member of the UMES Programme Committee for the Forum specification Design Languages (FDL) from 2005 to 2014. In 2012, he co-founded a startup in the Precision Agriculture area as a result of a research collaboration with the Agroscope research center. He was elected to the academic senate of USI from 2017 to 2019 and continues to work on wireless sensor networks applied to precision agriculture in collaboration with the ALaRI institute.
